Data sources
Last updated: 7 October 2026
The UK edition of sitedia is built from open data. This page lists every dataset, its publisher, its licence and the credit we show. Each diagram's own Credits line names the sources it uses, and the same lines go into exported DXF files.

Public sector information is used under the Open Government Licence v3.0. That does not mean any public body endorses sitedia. OpenStreetMap-derived data is available under the ODbL 1.0.
What to keep in mind
- Land registry plots are not legal boundaries. INSPIRE Index Polygons show the position and indicative extent of freehold registered titles. Roads, unregistered land and leasehold-only titles appear blank. Only a title plan shows the extent of a title.
- Planning designations may be incomplete. planning.data.gov.uk is still being filled in by local authorities, so a blank area does not mean that no designation applies. Check with the local planning authority.
- Building age is a band, not a date. Energy Performance Certificates record an age band (for example 1900–1929) for homes with a certificate since 2012. Where there is none, a Colouring Britain record is used; otherwise the building is blank.
- Building use is a provisional classification drawn from OpenStreetMap tags, points of interest, non-domestic certificates and land use.
- Heights come from airborne LiDAR captured in winter between 2016 and 2022, so a recent building may be missing or a demolished one may remain.
- Street trees are public trees only, as recorded by each borough.
